Jess Zubia
Biography
My name is Jess Zubia and I am New Mexico State University (NMSU) Library's first Outreach & Ethnic Studies Librarian, Assistant Professor. I was born and raised in the small colonia of San Ysidro - north of Las Cruces, NM. I come from a long lineage of advocates and public servants to the area. I am a first-generation graduate from NMSU in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a graduate from the University of Arizona (UA) in 2016 with a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science.
My personal interests include but are not limited to: anything comically small or comically large (but mostly tiny things!), art, music, DIY culture, coffee, naps, and laughter.
My research interests include but are not limited to: Critical Librarianship, Fat Studies, Feminist Theory, Queer Theory, Sustainability, Disability Advocacy, Neurodiversity, and Libraries as Third Spaces. I hope to bring inclusivity, connection, and joy to all those that I serve as the Outreach & Ethnic Studies Librarian.
