Reference and Research Services Ask a Reference Question

  The NMSU Library offers reference service through e-mail, phone, and in-person through both the Reference and Research Services and Archives and Special Collections Departments.
       If your question pertains to Archives and Special Collections, please send them an email at archives@lib.nmsu.edu or call at 505.646.3839.
       For general reference questions, NMSU faculty, students, and staff may ask any question. All other questions should pertain in some way to New Mexico State University and/or to our library collections.
  If you are not an affiliate of NMSU and your question doesn't fall into these parameters, please consult the staff at your local library for assistance.

Answers to common questions:

  Can I use article databases from off-campus?   Yes.   If you encounter problems accessing the databases; from off campus, please e-mail us at library@lib.nmsu.edu.

  What resources are available in Special Collections or the Rio Grande Historical Collections/Archives

  I’m interested in the Durango Microfilming Project.

  Does the library have the book I’m looking for?  Check the online catalog to find out. 

  Can I renew my book online? Yes - just use this online book renewal form.   

  Where can I find out about citation styles?  

  How can I get something through interlibrary loan?  First time NMSU users need to register with Information Delivery Services.

  I want to borrow a book from the NMSU library, but I don’t live close enough to get it myself. Can you send it? 
     No - but your own local library can get it for you.  Just ask them about interlibrary loan.  

What questions may I ask?

  help with completing citations   accept interlibrary loan requests - visit the ILL web page to
     find out how to submit requests
  recommendations on where to begin your
     research
  fetch, hold, or deliver library materials.  NMSU faculty and Ph.D. students

register and request this service
  suggestions of keywords and search strategies   help you fix your computer hardware or software problems

Remember that complex questions are best dealt with in person.

     to a specialist, you will be notified.
