Students in Languages and Linguistics may consult this guide for links to major websites in these subjects, and for information about other NMSU library resources (reference books, journals, CD-ROMS, indexes, etc.). It is not intended as a comprehensive list, but as a guide to the best starting points for research.
Direct links are provided for resources that are available on
the WWW. Subscription databases are available to NMSU students, faculty
and staff and generally require that you go through the proxy server. When
connecting from a commercial internet service provider, you will be asked to
enter your social security number in order to access subscription databases and
electronic journals.
The following reference sources are provided as starting points for research.
This is NOT a comprehensive listing of all relevant books for languages and
lingusitics. Many more excellent materials can be found by browsing in the
Reference section of New Library in the general call number areas for Linguistics
and Philology [P], Romance Languages [PC], Germanic Languages [PD], English
Language [PE], Oriental Languages [PJ], American Indian Languages [PM], Romance
Literatures [PQ], English Literature [PR], American Literature [PS], Germanic
Literature [PT]. This brief section lists some major reference works relating to foreign languages and literatures
taught at NMSU. More dictionaries and other reference books for these and other languages can be found in
the Reference section and in the library stacks on the 3rd floor of New Library.
