The New Mexico State University Library Archives and Special Collections Department announces that its Political Papers Unit has completed processing the Health subseries of the Senator Pete V. Domenici Papers. The 13 boxes of documents and materials are now open to use by researchers. The subseries focuses on legislation, reports, and policies related to health care both in New Mexico and the United States.
Researchers will find the materials related to mental health policy in the country, one of the key passions during Senator Domenici’s tenure, of particular interest. “One of the most important pieces would be sections that show Domenici’s work on mental health parity for insurance purposes,” said Adam Heien, Political Papers archivist. “Domenici’s made major contributions for mental health care in this country.”
A guide for the Senator Pete V. Domenici Papers can be found at http://lib.nmsu.edu/domenici/DomeniciFindingAid.pdf. Researchers can access the papers by visiting the Caroline E. Stras Research Room on the 4th Floor of Branson Library or by contacting the department at firstname.lastname@example.org and by phone at (575) 646-3839.
