Joe Becker Joins Library Faculty

Joe Becker recently joined the New Mexico State University Library faculty as head of the Acquisitions
Unit in the Technical Services Department. He works in Branson Library.

Joe is a 1999 graduate of the University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science,
and obtained his master’s degree in library science through that school’s distance education degree program.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Washington University, St. Louis.

This is Joe’s first full-time library job; he previously worked as a part-time librarian for the Interhemispheric
Resource Center, a nongovernmental organization in the Silver City, New Mexico, area.

Prior to coming to NMSU, Joe owned and operated Silverado Woodworks, a cabinetmaking shop in the
Silver City area. Joe’s research interests include library resources for distance education and electronic
ordering processes. His recreational interests include cycling, camping and woodworking.
