Staff Shout Out
I think Jenny Lockwood deserves some attention. She keeps track of an incredible amount of data that keeps our e-journals accessible. She uses a specialized system called an ERMS to do her work and she is the only one who uses the system (on a daily basis) so her knowledge is critical to our operations. She is also an excellent example of someone who goes beyond just doing her job because she carefully monitors various electronic lists pertaining to e-journals; she doesn’t have to do this, she is just the kind of person who goes the extra mile to make sure the job is done well.

Winners of #KeepCalmAndColor
As a part of the Counseling Center’s initiative Stress Buster Days and the NMSU Library’s tradition to give out coffee during finals, this semester the library held the event #KeepCalmAndColor. A coloring station was created in Zuhl Library and it was a huge hit with our students, with a steady rotation of students at the table. Thank you to Erica Aguirre-Bautista, Susan Beck, Mary Covarrubias-Chavairra, and Samantha Rich for ideas and execution. Above are our two winners Alberto Alvarez Jr. and Ashley Goehler and who both won a Pistol Pete USB drive.
Von Branson Family Singers
Invoking the holiday spirit at the NMSU Library Holiday party were the library’s own Von Branson Family Singers. Named in honor of Branson Library, the ensemble was organized by Technical Services student Jesus Solis as a special performance at the NMSU Library Social Activities Committee Holiday Party.

From Susana Rios:
“I want to compliment the services I received at Branson Library by Yoli Chacon-Valle and her students at the front desk. As a doctoral student finishing a dissertation took many years and a lot of efforts and sacrifices. So, by the time that we get to go to Branson library to deliver our copies and personal copies of the dissertation is when we are tired, happy and in the middle of a lot of emotions encountered.
“When I went there to drop off my copies, Yoli and 2 other students were very helpful and treated me with so much respect and understood that even though I have brought everything, there were still some things that I had needed to provide. And instead of making me feel bad about it, Yoli talked to me in a very comforting voice and explained in detail what I still needed. All I have to say that at the end, at the final stage of the process to complete all requirements for my dissertation, this one was the most pleasant one, one that I will always treasure.”
