The NMSU Library Archives and Special Collections will be one of many archives from the border region featured in the upcoming Border Archives Bazaar. This is a free, fun-filled event designed to give the community first-hand interaction with fascinating historical collections from the border region. The event brings together resources from more than a dozen libraries, archives, and museums of the El Paso and southern New Mexico area. The Bazaar will feature historical manuscripts, photographs, maps, publications, films and more that highlight the unique history and culture of our region and the role that archives play in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Archivists, librarians and museum curators will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about archives, regional history, and preserving documents. Scan stations will provide limited free digitization services for family photographs, documents, and audiovisual materials brought in by the public. The Border Archives Bazaar also will include short talks and workshops on regional history, genealogy, preserving family archives, oral history, researching historic buildings and neighborhoods, and digitizing old media. The event is sponsored by the Border Regional Archives Group.
