Unless otherwise indicated, remote access to these databases is available only to NMSU faculty, students, and staff.
- CINAHL Plus with Fulltext
- CINAHL Plus with Fulltext provides indexing for 2,737 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health, with fulltext for 329 journals. The database covers nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. In addition, this database offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters. Legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials are also covered.
- Cochrane Library
- Contains high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. Includes reliable evidence from Cochrane and other systematic reviews, clinical trials, and more. Cochrane reviews bring the combined results of the world's best medical research studies; recognized as the gold standard in evidence-based health care.
- DSM-IV-TR Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
- The standard diagnostic tool used by mental health professionals worldwide to promote reliable research, accurate diagnosis, and thus appropriate treatment and patient care. Each psychiatric disorder with its corresponding diagnostic code is accompanied by a set of diagnostic criteria and descriptive details including associated features, prevalence, familial patterns, age-, culture-, and gender-specific features, and differential diagnosis.
- Emerald Fulltext Library
- Emerald provides full text access to over 100 journals in the fields of Business, Marketing, Education, Engineering, Management, Food and Nutrition Science, Healthcare Management and Library Science. Coverage years vary by title but most titles are available full text from the mid 1990s to the present.
- GreenFILE
- GreenFILE offers scholarly, government and general-interest titles that cover all aspects of human impact on the environment. Specifically it includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done on each level to minimize negative impact. Topics covered include global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. It is multidisciplinary, drawing on the connections between the environment and a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology.
- Health and Safety Sciences Abstracts
- Provides a comprehensive, timely survey of recent work relating to public health, safety, and industrial hygiene. Indexes 1,033 periodicals from 1981 to the present. From Cambridge Scientific Abstracts.
- Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
- Provides nearly 550 scholarly fulltext journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Coverage of nursing and allied health is especially strong. Includes the Clinical Pharmacology Database, providing up-to-date, concise, and clinically relevant drug monographs for all US prescription drugs, plus herbal and nutritional supplements, OTC products, and new drugs.
- PsycARTICLES
- Full-text articles from peer-reviewed journals in general and specialized psychology.
- Psychiatry Online
- Psychiatry Online is a web-based portal featuring the DSM-IV-TR, a critical reference tool in psychiatry. The site is also a collection of resources from the American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc. that includes journals, textbooks, practice guidelines, self assessment tools, and medication information handouts. This database will be of use to students in psychology, social work, nursing, and many other disciplines.
- PsycINFO
- Produced by the American Psychological Association, PsycINFO contains citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, technical reports and dissertations in psychology, as well as the psychological aspects of related disciplines. Includes international material from 1,300 periodicals. Coverage: 1887-present.
- PubMed
- PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 18 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to 1948. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.
- SciFinder Scholar
- SciFinder Scholar provides access to CAplus, MedLine, CASREACT, and the Registry database from Chemical Abstracts Service. Includes journal articles, book chapters, patents, conference proceedings, technical reports, substance database and dissertations covered in Chemical Abstracts, as well as information on engineering, biochemistry, medicine, and biology.
- Toxicology Abstracts
- Covers issues from social poisons and substance abuse to natural toxins, from legislation and recommended standards to environmental issues. Indexes 291 research publications from 1981 to the present. Available from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts.
- TOXLINE
- Produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, TOXLINE provides bibliographic citations and abstracts from the care journal literature in all areas of toxicology, including chemicals and pharmaceuticals, pesticides, environmental pollutants, and mutagens and teratogens. Updated monthly from the last 5 years to the present. Available from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts.
