Submitting Reserves Lists

 
Please read these guidelines completely before submitting requests.

Faculty members and graduate assistants on the main campus of New Mexico State University may submit reserve lists.

Please complete a form each time material is submitted for reserves. Separate forms must be used for each course when using different materials.

Reserves may be submitted on hardcopy or e-forms:

Hardcopy Submission Form -- Forms are available at the Circulation Desk at Zuhl Library, by email request to reserves@lib.nmsu.edu, or online (see links below) for submission in electronic format.

Completed forms and any personal copies of material to be placed on reserve should be given to staff at the Circulation Desk at Zuhl Library. A reading list or syllabus may be attached to the form.

Processing Time

Typically requests will be processed as soon as possible with the shortest turnaround time possible unless library books are checked out/recalled. Requests will be processed in the order received. Required textbooks that are unavailable at the University Bookstore wil be processed as a top priority.

Loan Periods

Reserve materials may be restricted to in-library use only or may be allowed out of the library. Loan periods available are (videos must be at least 1-day loans):

Fines

Reserve fines will accrue at $1.00 per item per hour until the item is returned.

Types of Materials

Library-Owned Materials
Library staff will retrieve materials from the stacks. If an item is checked out, it will be recalled immediately. If more than one professor requests the same material, it will be reserved for the department as a whole.

Personal Copies
Submit personal copies to the staff at the Circulation Desk in Zuhl Library.

Articles
Please read the Copyright Guidelines before submitting copyrighted material for reserve. The library will clear copyrighted material only through the Copyright Clearinghouse Center.

Hardcopy Articles -- Pages should be numbered on 8 1/2" x 11" sheets. Do not staple the pages. Copyright waiver must be signed on the hardcopy submission form.

Electronic Articles -- Provide clear, legible hardcopies if the material will be scanned. Material on disc must be in ASCII, HTML, PDF, TXT or DOC format.

Homework, Solutions, Exams
Pages should be numbered on 8 1/2" x 11" sheets. Do not staple the pages.

Ordering Books for Reserves
Books which are not in the library must be ordered through the regular ordering process and may not be immediately available for reserve. If the NMSU Bookstore has the book in stock, it will be placed on reserve within a few days. The ordering process will begin when a reserve request form is filled out and it is ordered through the assigned selector/liaison.

Removing Reserves

Materials will automatically be removed from reserve each semester.
To initiate removal of materials from reserves, send email to reserves@lib.nmsu.edu, or you may fill out a form in person at the Zuhl Circulation Desk. When removing personal copies, please indicate if:
