Community Partners

The New Mexico State University Library wishes to thank the following partners for their invaluable contributions to the program.

  • Thomas Branigan Memorial Library has a collection of more than 200,000 items. It serves a population of nearly 190,000 citizens in Las Cruces and Doņa Ana County. Programming activities include the First Sunday Library Reading Series, the Branigan Book Club, monthly movie showings, a Chautauqua series, children’s story hours, and an active county bookmobile route.
  • Las Cruces Public School Libraries serve 23 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 4 high schools with a population of 22,793 students. Las Cruces is the second largest population center in the state of New Mexico, serving a culturally and socio-economically diverse group of students.
  • Doņa Ana Arts Council is a non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life in Las Cruces and southern New Mexico by ensuring that the performing, visual, and literary arts are an integral part of education, economic growth, and community development. The Council administers a recently renovated historic theater, the Rio Grande Theatre, which is a prime venue for free programs including Magic Carpet Story Time, a story reading program for elementary school-aged children; Every Other Tuesday, a free live evening performance open to the public; and much more exciting cultural programming.
  • The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico serves as a charitable resource linking donors with community needs. Guided by the National Standards for Community Foundations and acting in accordance with established governing policies, and governed by a Board of Directors made up of local individuals selected for their community leadership, they are responsible stewards of charitable funds.
