University Library Policy:

The university library follows NMSU's tuition remission policy as specified in the NMSU Business Procedures Manual 5A.10.30 and in the NMSU Administrative Rules and Procedures (ARP) Chapter 8.61. All Library employees are responsible for complying with these policies.

NMSU Library employees who take advantage of tuition remission benefits in general are not required to make up time or take annual leave for the time spent away from their work station if the course is taken during scheduled working hours, with a maximum number of six credit hours per fall and spring semester and four credit hours per summer session.

University Library Administrative Rules and Procedures:

New Mexico State University Library supports and encourages all regular employees to engage in professional development and life-long learning to enhance their careers by taking advantage of the Educational Opportunities for Employees (ARP Chapter 8.61):

Tuition Remission: With appropriate administrative approval from current employer/supervisor, regular employees with a .50 FTE or greater position are entitled to take course(s) totaling no more than six credits (supported by regular I&G funding) per semester (four credits each summer). Note: All courses may be subject to social security federal and state tax withholdings.

  • Step one: An NMSU employee submits a Tuition Waiver Request for approval through MyNMSU.
  • Step two: The waiver request must be approved by their supervisor.
