Information Review #1: Reference Source

Due: Wednesday, September 16, 1998
Assigned: Wednesday, September 9, 1998
Points: 75

Purpose

Instructions

Find and review a reference source. The source you choose should provide information on a topic that interests you.

The source you choose must be a traditional reference source You may use a reference source that you find on the Internet. Keep in mind that there are not many reference sources available via the Internet.

In cases where you choose to review an Internet reference source, please check with me first.

For a list of Internet reference sources, check under the NMSU library's web page Reference Desk. You might also check My Virtual Reference Desk or Yahoo's Reference Pages

Here are a couple of other ways to select your reference source:

In writing your review be sure to follow the Four F's of Evaluating Reference Resources and the Basic Writing Principles to Live By handouts given in class.

You may submit your review via e-mail. Just be sure to send it to me at susabeck@lib.nmsu.edu and not the class listserv. If you do e-mail me your review, please remember to follow common writing practices such as capitilization, punctuation and paragraph breaks. To show underlining, you can indicate this by preceding and ending the word or phrase to be underlined with the underscore character. On your keyboard this is the same key as the hyphen; just make sure to hit the shift key when typing it. You can send your file as an attachment by using WS-FTP.

If you have questions about your review choice, please feel free to discuss it with me.
