Get Started before You Come

There are some things you can do only at the NMSU library, but some that you can do before you come:

1. The official web page for National History Day

2. Suggested topics for the 2008 National History Day theme:  "Conflict & Compromise in History."

3. How to Find Primary Sources explains how to find primary sources in the NMSU Library Catalog as well as online.

4. Arts & Humanities Databases provide links to primary source materials through the library. These databases are only available on-campus.

5. Additional Web Resources (covering various historical periods).

6. How to find a book using CALL NUMBERS

7. New York Times Archives Search (1851-1980). Once you have located an article, you can print it from microfilm at NMSU.

8. Once you have found all of your resources, you'll need to put them in the right form for citations and footnotes. The library has produced a handout for using the MLA format. A brief description of the more complex Chicago Style can be found online; otherwise the book can be found in most libraries.
