Gifts of Archival Materials

The Rio Grande Historical Collections collects, organizes, and makes available to scholars and the public primary research materials that illuminate the history, cultures, environment and economies of southern New Mexico and the Borderland, and the lives of the region's people. This collection encompasses 458 documentary collections, 500,000 photographs, and research items such as maps and tapes.

The Hobson/Huntsinger University Archive consists of non-current manuscripts, documents, and images on the institutional history of New Mexico State University.

If you have research materials you may wish to donate to either collection, such as correspondence, diaries, records, minutes, photographs, maps, blueprints or recordings, contact Steve Hussman at shussman@lib.nmsu.edu or 575-646-4756.

Financial contributions can be directed to support the acquisition, preservation, scholarly organization and/or public promotion of priceless scholarly materials that illuminate the unique history of the Southwest region.

Special Collections houses 45,000 non-circulating books, periodicals, maps and newspapers of regional interest; and materials supporting specialized University programs. It also features rare or otherwise valuable materials significant to regional literature and the arts, and regional contributions to science.
