What
is Information Delivery Services (IDS)?
Information Delivery Services (IDS) is the new name for
Interlibrary Loan and Pegasus Delivery and Pick-up Services. This two-tiered
service combines to provide faculty and students access to needed research
information whether owned by NMSU Library or another organization.
Who is eligible to make IDS requests?
Any person with a current NMSU ID not blocked by the NMSU
Library for fines or lost books. Users must first register with IDS before
submitting requests. Guest borrowers and people from the community are able to
request ILL service at the Thomas Branigan Public Library
(528-4000). ILL service may also be available at Dona Ana Branch Community
College Library (527-7555) at: http://dabcc-www.nmsu.edu/library/libservices.htm
How much does it cost?
There is usually no charge.
However, if there is a charge associated with an undergraduate request,
the undergraduate will be informed. They
can then agree to pay the charges or cancel the request.
How many requests may I make?
There is no limit to the number of requests that may be
submitted at one time. However, during peak times we may have to limit the
number processed per patron each day.
How do I request material through IDS?
An electronic form must be filled out for each request.
Electronic forms are located at:
1. http://illiad.nmsu.edu/illiad.html?
2. Electronic Databases
Links are located in most of the electronic databases provided by the library.
- Select a citation from a
Detailed Record
- Click the ILLIAD button (bibliographic
data will automatically transfer to an ILLIAD request)
- Click the Submit button
How do I log into IDS?
At the NMSU Library web page select Services.
Select Information Delivery Services.
Click “Click here to log in”
Enter your username and password
What Username and Password is needed?
ILLIAD uses the same Username and Password as your MyNMSU
account. Register for MyNMSU for the
first time at: https://my.nmsu.edu/cp/home/displaylogin
How long does it take to register before
I can make a request?
Immediately.
How long does it
take to receive materials?
Generally:
- Loaned books, 1-2 weeks
- Photocopies, 1-5 days
How will I know when my IDS material has arrived?
You will receive an email notice that your material has arrived.
Books may be picked up at the Zuhl Circulation desk. Articles will be posted to
your account unless otherwise noted. Faculty and PhD candidates may request
material to be delivered or picked up at their campus offices.
How long can I keep the materials?
Approximately a month. Each lending library has its own lending
policies. Most libraries allow one renewal. Log into your ILLIAD account to
request a renewal. A courtesy notice
will be emailed three days before the due date.
All ILL books are
subject to immediate RECALL by the lending library.
Photocopies are
yours to keep.
Are there overdue and/or lost material fines?
Yes. Overdue fines are assessed by the lending library.
Replacement costs for lost materials generally start at $75.
Can I obtain dissertations and theses from other
libraries?
Yes. Fill out a book request form. As always, each request is
subject to the lending library's policies.
Can I check out “Library Use Only” material?
Library Use Only material is checked out to your account for
circulation purposes. However they cannot leave the library. Microfilm/fiche
will be available for use at Branson Library.
Library-use books will be available at Zuhl Library. If you have access to a microfilm/fiche
reader in your office, contact us and we MAY be able to let you use the
material in your office.
How will I receive
articles I ordered?
Most articles will be posted to your ILLIAD account. Log into ILLIAD and select "View/Download
Electronically Received Articles"
What programs do I need to view a document?
You will need a web browser and Adobe Acrobat installed on your
computer. We recommend that you use Internet Explorer, version 4.0 or greater
to view your documents. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed, you can
download it free of charge from Adobe's web site:
