FAQs
- How do I access a list for my class whether I am a student or a faculty member?
- You can access the list 24/7 by using the Library Online Catalog for hardcopy reserves. This location will also tell you if the items are checked out and when they are due back.
- You can access E-Reserves 24/7 (Docutek). This list will allow you to view, download or print full-text articles, chapters, lecture notes, exams, links to external websites, and any hardcopy reserves, if any are included, for a specific course(s). (Not all lists have hardcopy material in addition to E-Reserves.) Most course pages are password protected and you must obtain this password from the professor who is teaching the course.
- What loan periods are available for hardcopy reserves?
- Loans can be 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 7 days. The professor chooses the loan period and whether or not it should leave the library.
- Where are the hardcopy reserves located?
- Most hardcopy reserves (books, videos, CDs, DVDs, etc.) are located at Zuhl Library Circulation, 1st floor, but a few may be at Branson Library Information Desk, 1st floor (other miscellaneous items such as headsets, keys for certain rooms, cassette player, etc.)
- Is there a charge for using the reserves collection?
- Currently, there is no charge to students but there may be charges for copyright/royalty fees to faculty and/or their departments depending on copyright reviews.
- If I have a copyright question regarding reserves, who do I contact?
- Please call the Reserves Desk at 646-4441 or 646-6918. Questions may be referred to the Access Services Department Head or to the General Counsel office for NMSU. Or email us your copyright questions or concerns.
- Are print course packs available?
- It's possible, but the NMSU Library prefers to offer course packs online for 24/7 availability.
- Will I be charged fines if a reserve item is returned late?
- Yes. Fines accrue at $1.00 per hour. For further information on fines please contact the Circulation Desk at 646-6910.
