New Mexico State University Library will have an assessment plan which routinely does assessment as appropriate to an academic research library in direct student learning outcomes, student experience outcomes, and other mission-related outcomes. Both quantitative and qualitative measures will be used to determine the outcomes. Where appropriate, multi-measures will be used.
Assessment Plan
General Statement
New Mexico State University Library strongly supports using assessment tools
to measure student learning outcomes, student experience outcomes, and mission-related
outcomes. The Library's assessment activities focus on the functions of an academic
research library in relation to the communities it services.
Assessment Cycles
Many of New Mexico State University Library's assessment activities are ongoing
and cyclical, e.g., peer group comparisons, student learning outcomes, student
experience outcomes, etc. (see table below). However, there are occasions
where assessment is done to determine the impact of change made in a specific
targeted service area within a specified time frame. See current year's New
Mexico State University Library's Strategic Directions Targets for
details on short-term assessment activities.
