Database Trial Access Announced
The New Mexico State University Library is offering trial access to three databases. Each trial is available through the "Trials" link in the article database list at http://lib.nmsu.edu/article.shtml. These trials will only be available off campus to NMSU main campus students, faculty and staff members through normal off-campus authentication. The trial databases are PsycINFO, PsycARTICLES and FBIS Daily Report 1974-1996.
PsycINFO, from the American Psychological Association (APA), contains nearly 2.3 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines, dating as far back as the 1800s. 97 percent of the covered material is peer-reviewed.
Note: The NMSU Library already subscribes to PsycINFO but from FirstSearch, another database vendor. This trial version has a different search interface. Please let the Library know what you think of this version of PsycINFO by filling out the evaluation form at http://lib.nmsu.edu/resources/trialform.htm. The trial of PsycINFO lasts until March 25.
PsycARTICLES, from the American Psychological Association (APA), is a definitive source of full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology. The database covers general psychology as well as specialized, applied, clinical and theoretical research. Coverage spans 1894 to present; in it nearly all APA journals go back to volume 1, issue 1.
Note: The NMSU Library already subscribes to PsycINFO but from FirstSearch, another database vendor. This trial version has a different search interface. Please let the Library know what you think of this version of PsycARTICLES by filling out the evaluation form at http://lib.nmsu.edu/resources/trialform.htm. The trial of PsycARTICLES lasts until March 25.
FBIS Daily Report 1974-1996 is a web-based, fully searchable edition of the Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Report. FBIS has been the principal U.S. record of political and historical open source intelligence. It is comprised of reports from the Middle East, North Africa, the Near East and South Asia. The database will soon include Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, China, Latin American and the Soviet Union. This database should be of interest to students of political science and world history. The trial of FBIS Daily Report 1974-1996 lasts until April 5. Please let the Library know what you think of FBIS Daily Report by filling out the evaluation form at http://lib.nmsu.edu/resources/trialform.htm.
Please contact reference librarian Alisa Gonzalez at (575) 646-6926 or email acgonzal@nmsu.edu with your questions or comments about any of the Library's trial databases.
