Storytellers to Celebrate Legacy of Jennie Curry
The Storytellers of Las Cruces will honor the organization's founder, Jennie Curry, with a Founder's Day celebration. The festival, "Las Cruces Celebrates the Life of Jennie Curry," will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, in the Library Associates room on the second floor of NMSU's Zuhl Library. It is free and open to the public.
The festival will celebrate the many traditions of storytelling, from traditional to evolutionary, from dance to Chautauqua, from historical to magical and from adult to children. Participants are invited to come and share their reminiscences of Jennie Curry as well as to enjoy the many ways we communicate through tales. Please bring your children to enjoy the stories and music.
The program, MC'd by Rob Hinton, will feature poems, stories and performances by Loni Todoroki, Terry Alvarez, Nancy Jenkins, Molly Schrader, Judith Ames, Sarah Addison (Juba), Sharlene Witter, Louise O'Donnell, Tansu Akbar and Pat Gill. The program will end with music performed by the Las Cruces High Quartet, with Kelly Kim, Jessica Thierry, Suzanne Cardon and Alyssa Parsons.
Refreshments will be served. For more information, please call Loni Todoroki at (505) 521-1819.
