Historical Books Given to Library Featured on Aggie Almanac
NMSU's Aggie Almanac television program is featuring a collection of rare historical books recently donated to the New Mexico State University Library by J. Phelps White of Roswell. The program will air Thursday, January 15, at 7 p.m., Saturday, January 17, at 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 18, at 11 a.m. on KRWG-TV Channel 2, Comcast Cable Channel 2 and other area stations, as well as online at http://krwgtv.org.
White spoke about the collection of 431 volumes at a Library program last fall, which was filmed by KRWG-TV. The collection, which consists of literary and historical works from the nineteenth century, originally belonged to Roswell area industrialist J.J. Hagerman.
Special Collections Librarian Dr. Laurence Creider also appears on the program. Creider said of the collection, "The books provide a valuable snapshot of the library of a wealthy family in small town New Mexico around 1900."
