Graduate Students Needed for Library "One Search" Study

NMSU librarians Sarah Baker and Alisa Gonzalez are looking for participants for a research study concerning the "One Search" search tool. One Search is the Library's federated search tool featured on its home page at http://lib.nmsu.edu/index.shtml. This resource searches the library catalog and selected databases simultaneously.

Baker and Gonzalez are looking at graduate students' information gathering behavior, specifically their perceptions of success and failure in the research process. Results of this study will be used to improve the One Search user interface and to better instruct students and faculty in how to use this search tool.

Participants will receive a $20 Barnes & Noble gift card and a chance to win an iPod touch for completing a brief online survey and a one-hour in-person interview.

If you are a graduate student who has used One Search more than five times and are interested in participating, please contact Sarah Baker at sbbaker@lib.nmsu.edu or (575) 646-6087 or Alisa Gonzalez at acgonzal@nmsu.edu or (575) 646-6926.
