New Mexico Library Association Holds Logo Contest
The New Mexico Library Association (NMLA) announces a statewide contest for a new logo. Complete contest guidelines are available at http://www.nmla.org/Logo_Contest.html.
The contest is open to all persons residing in New Mexico except members of the NMLA Board and the NMLA Public Relations Committee. Entries may be submitted through the New Mexico State University Library or other local library.
NMLA President Louise Hoffmann of Farmington said, "I feel that there are any number of people in our state who would love to create a special logo for our association."
The design, which must be adaptable to large and small displays such as business cards or posters, must include the letters NMLA, be in black and white only, and convey the spirit of the modern library in New Mexico. No hand-drawn entries will be accepted. A limit of three designs per individual may be entered.
Entries must be submitted on a CD, along with an entry form, by January 14, 2008, to your local New Mexico library. The logo must be submitted in an original (unflattened) editable graphic format. Vector files are preferred; however, a tif file of at least 600 dpi may be submitted. The name of the file must be easily identifiable, for example, lastname.firstname.ai.
A $1500 prize is being offered to the individual (or group) that submits the winning design. $500 will also be awarded to the library through which the winning design was submitted.
NMLA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support and promotion of libraries and the development of library personnel through education and the exchange of ideas to enrich the lives of all New Mexicans.
For more information, contact your local New Mexico academic, public, school, tribal or special library, visit the NMLA web page at http://www.nmla.org or call Hoffmann at (505) 566-3449.
Entries submitted through the New Mexico State University Library in Las Cruces must be submitted by Monday, January 14, 2008 to: Attn: Marti Torres, New Mexico State University Library, Second Floor Administrative Office in Zuhl Library, 2911 McFie Circle, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM 88003.
