NMSU Library presents talk on aftermath of Darwin's Origin of Species

The NMSU Library will sponsor a talk, "After the Origin," by David B. Richman at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, in Room 225 of Zuhl Library. The talk is free and open to the public.

The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin, presenting his revolutionary theory of evolution, was published on November 24, 1859, and all copies of the book were almost immediately sold out. This presentation provides a capsule view of what happened in the 150 years that followed.

David B. Richman is a college professor and curator of the Arthropod Museum of NMSU's Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology & Weed Science.

The presentation is part of the NMSU Library's celebration of the 2009 Year of Science. November commemorates Darwin and The Origin of Species. The programs are being organized by NMSU science librarians Paula Johnson, Cindy Watkins and Dr. Nirmala Gunapala.

For more information, contact Johnson at (575) 646-7251 or the Library's Information Desk at (575) 646-5792.
