Gala Event for Chile Lovers Announced
The New Mexico State University Library announces a chile presentation, gala chile tasting and book signing event to be held Friday, November 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third floor of NMSU's Zuhl Library. There is no admission charge, and the event is open to the public.
Come and meet world renowned chile experts Dr. Paul Bosland of Las Cruces and "The Pope of Peppers" Dave DeWitt of Albuquerque. DeWitt and Bosland will give a multimedia presentation on chile and conduct a question and answer session about chile.
The presentation will be followed by a book signing and hot and spicy food tasting. Anyone who purchases an autographed copy of DeWitt and Bosland's new book, The Complete Chile Pepper Book, for $30 at the event will receive a free bonus item, the Chile Pepper Institute 15th Year Anniversary commemorative poster by Las Cruces artist Louis Ocepek. 50% of the proceeds from the sale of each book will go directly to the Library for agricultural book purchases.
The book lists the top one hundred chile peppers for your garden. It also explains how to grow, process and prepare peppers and includes 85 mouth-watering recipes, from mild to hot.
The tasting of hot and spicy foods will include delicious hot sauces, mustards, salsas, barbeque sauces, ketchup, cheese curls and popcorn.
Please RSVP to Library Development Officer Kristina Martinez at (575) 646-3642 or email krismart@ad.nmsu.edu.
