Big Read Participants to be Interviewed on KSNM-Radio
Two NMSU faculty members and a famous New Mexico author will be interviewed on KSNM-AM Radio (570 on the dial) on Wednesday, September 26, regarding The Big Read, sponsored by the NMSU Library and other community partners.
From 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., Alan Riehl, the host of KSNM's Morning Show, will interview Albuquerque author Rudolfo Anaya about his novel Bless Me, Última, the book that is being celebrated during The Big Read.
From 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Riehl will interview NMSU faculty members Mardi Mahaffy of the NMSU Library and Deborah LaPorte of the English Department about Bless Me, Última, and the month-long schedule of events celebrating The Big Read in Doña Ana County.
Mahaffy said, "We cordially invite the residents of southern New Mexico to read Bless Me, Última and participate in our many events."
The first kickoff event, with a keynote address by poet Jimmy Baca of Albuquerque and a performance by the Ballet Folklorico de la Tierra del Encanto, will be held on Friday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Court Youth Center.
