Library Mounts Exhibit of WWII Letters

The NMSU Library's Archives and Special Collections Department has mounted an exhibit of historical letters entitled "The Whole Damned World: New Mexico Aggies at War 1941-1945." The letters were written by former students of NMSU Engineering Dean Daniel Jett from every corner of the world and every branch of the armed services. The exhibit may be viewed in the Milton Gallery on the fourth floor of Branson Library until October 2009.

The exhibit, which complements the Library's recently published book by the same title, includes photographs from the U.S. Navy collected and donated to the Archives by Paul Forsberg. Visitors to the exhibit may also listen to an audio stream of former State College president and Army Brigadier General, Hugh M. Milton, describing the experience during the Battle of Bougainville that earned him a silver star.

For more information, contact Martha Andrews at (575) 646-5028 or mandrews@lib.nmsu.edu.
