The $10,000 Paso del Norte Health Foundation grant, awarded in early 2000, enabled the BIEN! Network to hire Linda Sandoval in April as the BIEN! Planning Proposal Project Coordinator. From April to mid-October, a series of one-on-one surveys, focus groups, and training sessions were conducted to achieve the goals of the planning project. As a result of this effort, critical data was collected, analyzed, and documented, providing a strong foundation for the successful launch of the NLM-funded BIEN! Project in October.
