Accepts John Cotton Dana Library Publicity Award
The New Mexico State University
Library was the only academic library among
nine winners of the John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award, the most
prestigious award of the American Library Association (ALA).
The award, sponsored by the H.W. Wilson Company, a
publisher of library resources, commemorates the public relations skills of John Cotton Dana, the eleventh
president of the association. The awards
ceremony took place on
The Library’s award-winning campaign celebrated the $3
million naming gift for Zuhl Library, given by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Zuhl in 2000, and associated publicity and
festivities. The John Cotton Dana contest
is open to all libraries in the world. There
are about 150 entries per year. Award
winners provide a publicity scrapbook and display that are showcased at the ALA
Annual Conference.
