DAYS/HOURS WORKED: MONDAY-FRIDAY 40-HOUR WORK WEEK SCHEDULED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NMSU LIBRARY FLEXTIME WORK SCHEDULE POLICY, #004.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in related field and no experience; OR the equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position. Ability to track, modify and create workflows; advanced computer skills, such as use of office productivity software and the Internet; advanced familiarity with the elements of a bibliographic record; advanced familiarity with MARC records; advanced familiarity with library automation systems; advanced familiarity with cataloging standards and related tools; basic ability to read Romance and German language materials at the bibliographic level; ability to work under broad supervision and make independent decisions from diverse alternatives subject to general review in final stages; ability to work well with others and coordinate with personnel in other units.

PREFERRED: Technical writing experience to write procedures and reports. Project development experience, including assessment methods and report preparation. Associates Degree or higher in library science, or related field.

APPLICANTS INCLUDING REGULAR NMSU EMPLOYEES MUST HAVE A CURRENT APPLICATION ON FILE WITH THE OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Examples of Duties: Identifies cataloging and bibliographic maintenance problems and devises solutions; catalogs in a variety of formats including books, music, serials, or other formats as needed; edits, updates, and transfers information between cataloging tools; assigns call numbers and validates subject headings; upgrades cataloging descriptions to national standards and local practices; verifies access points. Creates authority records. Processes serial title changes; sets up analytic entry records; updates holdings screens for all formats including adding copies and volumes to existing records and making location changes, particularly in relation to Archives and Special Collections and Reference departments; writes procedures; trains personnel as needed; coordinates workflow procedures with personnel in other units; maintains cataloging related statistics and generates reports; responsible for serials related URL maintenance.
