Qualifications: NO TYPING TEST REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION WITH AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY & MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES. (AFSCME)

DAYS/HOURS WORKED: MONDAY-FRIDAY 40-HOUR WORK WEEK SCHEDULED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NMSU LIBRARY FLEXTIME WORK SCHEDULE POLICY, #004.

REQUIRED: Two (2) years of college level study; Two (2) years of academic library experience; OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the above knowledge, skills, and abilities. Basic computer skills, such as use of office productivity software and the Internet. Familiarity with the basic elements of a bibliographic record. Familiarity with library automation systems. Basic written and verbal communication skills. Accuracy, neatness, ability to work under general supervision. Willingness to pursue advanced preservation training and/or certification.

PREFERRED: Familiarity with basic preservation techniques. Previous sewing and/or craft experience.

APPLICANTS INCLUDING REGULAR NMSU EMPLOYEES MUST HAVE A CURRENT APPLICATION ON FILE WITH THE OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Examples of Duties: Prepares, prints, and verifies accuracy of spine labels; performs final quality control check (barcode, call number, etc.) on all items leaving the department; examines damaged items, determines best preservation method and executes preservation action; builds phase boxes; operates heat binding machine; monitors work flow of materials through labeling & final processing; trains student workers as needed; maintains written documentation regarding position's duties; assists in the physical preparation of material for the Bindery as needed; performs other duties as assigned.
