Qualifications: NO TYPING TEST REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION WITH AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY & MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES. (AFSCME)

DAYS/HOURS WORKED: MONDAY-FRIDAY 40-HOUR WORK WEEK SCHEDULED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NMSU LIBRARY FLEXTIME WORK SCHEDULE POLICY, #004.

REQUIRED: Two (2) years college level study and six years of academic library experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the above knowledge, skills and abilities. Intermediate familiarity with standard accounting operations, including ordering, processing invoices, monitoring allocations; familiarity with the basic elements of a bibliographic record; familiarity with MARC records; basic familiarity with the publishing market as it relates to libraries; familiarity with library automation systems; rudimentary ability to decipher Romance language materials at the title level; intermediate computers skills, such as use of office productivity software and the Internet. Managerial skills and experience, including hiring, scheduling, disciplining, and evaluating employees; Advanced communication skills; Ability to work under broad supervision.

PREFERRED: Associate's degree or coursework in library science; previous budgeting, accounting, or purchasing experience.

Examples of Duties: Receives and processes incoming materials using automated library system; Creates purchase orders, inputs titles and locations, and selects correct funds; Initiates or responds to correspondence with vendors; Reconciles shipments against invoices and purchase orders; Checks physical condition of items received; makes decisions on defective or duplicative merchandise and takes appropriate action; Prepares invoices; Routes incoming materials; Monitors selected expenditures and allocations.

Student supervisor
Interviews, hires, evaluates, and coordinates scheduling and training of the department's student labor pool; Tracks and corrects student timesheets; Coordinates and meets with unit and department heads on allocation of student hours and tasks.

Performs other duties as assigned
