Qualifications: NO TYPING TEST REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION WITH AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY & MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES. (AFSCME)

DAYS/HOURS WORKED: MONDAY-FRIDAY 40-HOUR WORK WEEK SCHEDULED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NMSU LIBRARY FLEXTIME WORK SCHEDULE POLICY, #004.

REQUIRED: Two (2) years college level study and six years of academic library experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the above knowledge, skills and abilities. Intermediate familiarity with standard accounting operations, including ordering, processing invoices, monitoring allocations; familiarity with the basic elements of a bibliographic record; familiarity with MARC records; basic familiarity with the publishing market as it relates to libraries; familiarity with library automation systems; rudimentary ability to decipher Romance language materials at the title level; intermediate computers skills, such as use of office productivity software and the Internet.

PREFERRED: Associate's degree or coursework in library science; previous budgeting, accounting, or purchasing experience.

APPLICANTS INCLUDING REGULAR NMSU EMPLOYEES MUST HAVE A CURRENT APPLICATION ON FILE WITH THE OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Examples of Duties: Responsibilities include ordering, receiving, record maintenance, processing, and problem solving for firm order monographs and non-print materials; procures, receives processes and routes incoming materials; imports related bibliographic records and electronic invoices; creates purchase orders and selects correct funds; reconciles shipments against invoices and purchase orders; checks physical condition of items received; prepares invoices and forwards to the library's business manager for payment; monitors current expenditures and budget allocations and provides regular reports; may meet with vendors on-site; initiates or responds to questions and/or correspondence from vendors, library staff, faculty, and patrons; performs other duties as assigned.
