Qualifications: NO TYPING TEST REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION WITH AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY & MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES. (AFSCME)

DAYS/HOURS WORKED: MONDAY-FRIDAY 40-HOUR WORK WEEK SCHEDULED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NMSU LIBRARY FLEXTIME WORK SCHEDULE POLICY, #004.

Two years college level study and six years of academic library experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the above knowledge, skills and abilities. Advanced knowledge of ILLiad, ARIEL, Odyssey, and other electronic document delivery options; advanced online bibliographic searching skills; working knowledge of computer hardware and software such as office productivity software (word processor, spreadsheets, etc.) and communication software (email and web browsers); working knowledge of Voyager Circulation, Cataloging, and OPAC modules; working knowledge of OCLC WorldCat and FirstSearch searching; working knowledge of copyright law and guidelines; knowledge of Library of Congress and SuDoc classification schemes; ability to use scanners, copiers, fax machines; ability to work in a cooperative environment and to interact appropriately with others in the workplace; ability to adapt to change; effective communication skills; capacity to think critically, evaluate systematically, identify cause and effect relationships, solve problems, analyze data, and recall and use information.

APPLICANTS INCLUDING REGULAR NMSU EMPLOYEES MUST HAVE A CURRENT APPLICATION ON FILE WITH THE OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Examples of Duties: Receives Interlibrary Loan borrowing requests via ILLiad system; verifies requestor's name and status; consults with library circulation unit staff to resolve problems; identifies locally-available materials and notifies requestor of access; selects appropriate lenders/suppliers and requests materials to fulfill user needs; informs borrowers of and interprets copyright law for borrowers; screens all requests for compliance with "fair use" guidelines; searches Copyright Clearance Center's website to ascertain clearance and fees; electronically submits and monitors orders; shares in supervision and training of student assistants; monitors ILL email account, sending responses or forwarding to appropriate staff as needed; other duties as assigned.
