NMSU invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Library. This position reports to the Executive Vice President and is responsible for the overall administration of the library including strategic planning, policy formulation, fiscal management, external resource development and fundraising, and public and governmental relations. The Dean advocates for the expansion of library programs and services needed to support the university's teaching, research and service objectives. In addition, the Dean takes a leadership role in developing state and regional consortia, serves as a liaison between the main library, the branch campus libraries, and other area libraries, and represents the interests of academic libraries statewide.
New Mexico State University, located in the southern part of the state, is the only land-grant institution in New Mexico and has four two-year branch campuses. NMSU is a Carnegie I Research Institution with over 15,000 students (main campus) and has been designated as both a minority and a Hispanic Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education. The University Library has a total annual budget of $5.6 million with a collection of 1,057,887 cataloged volumes and 6,762 current serial subscriptions. It is a depository for federal and state documents and includes programs for archives, manuscripts and special collections. The Library is a member of OCLC, AMIGOS, New Mexico Library Alliance and other regional consortia and is currently migrating to the Endeavor Integrated Library System.
