RESPONSIBILITIES: The Reference and Research Services-Social Sciences Librarian provides both general and specialized reference services, which includes traditional and electronic services and evening and weekend hours. Participates in the Library's instruction program, which includes course-related instruction sessions, for-credit courses and instructional workshops. Contributes to the development of the Library's collections. Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students in assigned areas. As a member of the library faculty, this position is responsible for achievement in librarianship, research and creative activity, and service. This position reports to the Head of the Reference & Research Services Department.
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program by date of hire. Strong commitment to public service and outreach. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, student, and community members. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and adapt to change. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred: Academic or work experience in the social sciences. Teaching or training experience in a classroom setting. Experience using and teaching a variety of print and electronic resources.
