ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION AVAILABILITY OPEN TO REGULAR NMSU EMPLOYEES FOR TRANSFER/PROMOTION OPPORTUNITY.
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program at time of hire. High level of energy and initiative. Successful teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy concepts and programs. Knowledge of emerging instructional methods and technologies in higher education. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred: Experience teaching credit courses; experience with assessment of instruction programs; skill in developing, organizing, and maintaining online instructional resources; demonstrated potential for achieving in the areas of librarianship, scholarship and creative activity, and service.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Instruction Coordinator leads and coordinates all instruction/information literacy activities of the NMSU Library, which currently include course-related instruction, credit courses, and workshops. Evaluates and assess the Library's instruction program, including teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes. Monitors instructional developments at the University and national levels. Represents the Library in campus discussions of effective teaching and learning. Coordinates marketing of program services and cultivates instructional partnerships. Promotes and facilitates training and development of library staff involved with instruction. Shares responsibility for providing reference services, including evening and weekend hours. As a member of the library faculty, this position is responsible for achievement in librarianship, research and creative activity and service. This position reports to the Head of the Reference & Research Services Department.
