TECHNICAL SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TSAC)
Purpose: To provide a forum for the discussion of workflow and procedural issues between Technical Services and the other departments in the University Library.

PROMOTION AND TENURE COMMITTEE (COLLEGE)
Purpose:To review the department head's recommendations concerning tenure and/or promotion. The College Promotion and Tenure Committee will then submit in writing its recommendations on each candidate to the Dean.
Membership:Elected eligible members of the regular library faculty who do not hold administrative appointments

College Promotion and Tenure Committee
"The tenured and tenure-track faculty from each college will elect the members of the College Promotion and Tenure Committee. The composition of the College Promotion and Tenure Committee may vary from college to college, but in no case will consist of fewer than five tenured faculty members. College guidelines will be followed in cases where there are inadequate numbers of tenured and senior faculty to constitute a college committee for the purpose of promotion and tenure recommendations. Department heads will not serve on the College Promotion and Tenure Committee, nor will committee members serve on reviews of faculty members from their own departments. In cases of promotion, members must hold ranks equal to or higher than the rank to which the candidate is to be promoted. The college dean and department heads may appear before the College Promotion and Tenure Committee to present information; however, the college dean and department heads will not be present during College Promotion and Tenure Committee deliberations and voting. These College Promotion and Tenure Committee procedures apply to the University Library and to A lamogordo, Carlsbad, and Grants Branch Campus Community Colleges (all of which use only one Promotion and Tenure Committee), with the following exception: Promotion and Tenure Committee members may serve on the committee and review faculty members in their own departments."

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE EXECUTIVE BOARD (SAC)
Purpose: The Social Activities Committee (SAC) is a volunteer employees organization which sponsors social activities for the library staff; sends acknowledgments for birthdays, illnesses, deaths, etc. of library employees; and establishes guidelines on the use of staff lounge areas.
Membership: Five representatives from classified staff and two representatives from the faculty/ professional staff. (2-year staggered terms)

Library Task Forces
LIBRARY TASK FORCE TO REVISE THE LIBRARY'S PROMOTION AND TENURE DOCUMENT
Purpose: The Task Force is charged by February 15, 2004 to review and forward recommendations to the Dean of the Library on revisions or changes to the New Mexico State University Library Promotion and Tenure Document, September 1999 (NMSULPTD) and the New Mexico State University Policy Manual (NMSUPM), March 22, 2002 as they relate to the library.
The Task Force is further charged to do the following:
Steering Committee (Position Appointments)
- Encourage broad library faculty participation in the process.
- Provide a variety of venues for library faculty to share their views and discuss recommendations,
e.g., open forums, written comments, etc.
- Make recommendations on criteria for promotion and tenure which clearly delineate the expectations
for each rank, provide meaningful guidance to library faculty, and have the support of at least a majority
of the library faculty.
- Recommend new language or language revisions, as needed, to clarify and or state procedures or
processes pertaining to recusals, confidentiality, procedural variances in library practices from those as
specified in the NMSUPM, requests for deadline extensions, and other issues as identified in the
- Simplify the language in the library's promotion and tenure document and make the language
consistent with the language in the NMSUPM.
- Recommend new language or language revisions, as needed, in the library's promotion and tenure
document to make it procedurally in compliance with the NMSUPM.
