GENERAL INFORMATION
Background
In November 2002, New Mexico voters approved a statewide Library Books Bond Issue that allocates $16 million to publicly-funded academic, school and public libraries. The purpose of this legislation is to grant money for library resources to supplement the library's regular annual budget. Out of the $16 million statewide allocation, the New Mexico State University Library will receive $587,758 to be spent over the next two years. These monies will be used to fund proposals aimed at strengthening the NMSU Library's collections.
Purpose
The 2002 New Mexico State University Library GO Bond Proposal Project is intended for targeted collection development. Proposals are sought that meet one or more of the following goals:
- Enrich existing research collections;
- Build core collections for new program initiatives at NMSU Main Campus;
- Update specific collection areas noted for their lack of currency.
